Precision modular by Backyard ADUs
The homes are wood modular, design-built by Backyard ADUs at the KBS factory in South Paris, Maine. Building indoors means consistent quality control, tight air-sealing, and no weather delays; the finished boxes are craned onto the foundations and completed on site. Ceiling heights run 8–9 feet, on an 18" crawl-space foundation.
Zero-Energy-Ready efficiency
Every home is all-electric with heat pumps, achieves DOE Zero Energy Ready certification, and lands at a HERS index around 40–47 — dramatically less energy than a standard new home. High-R insulation, high-performance windows, and heat-recovery ventilation keep them comfortable and cheap to run.
Solar, EV, and shared amenities
A rooftop solar array (a dedicated 21st condo unit houses renewable generation and/or battery storage) helps stabilize energy costs against utility-rate swings. The parking lot will have EV chargers, and each building has a shed for bikes and strollers.
The finishes
Kitchens have Merillat Spring Valley cabinets (white or steel-grey), Basalt Slate counters, and GE stainless Energy-Star appliances; baths have satin-nickel fixtures; floors are Daltile luxury vinyl plank. Public water-based sprinklers throughout. See the homes & finishes →
